Biography

 

Marcelo da Silva Pinho was born in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro – Brazil, on January 16, 1971. He received the B.Sc., M.Sc. and D.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), in 1994, 1996 and 2000, respectively. In 1998, he was a visiting scholar in the Center for Image Processing Research (CIPR) of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), NY, USA. From 2000 to 2002, he worked in the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Universidade Estadual Paulista at Guaratinguetá, SP. Since April of 2002, he has been with the Department of Electronic Engineering at Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA). His professional experience and research interests are in information theory, digital communication, and digital signal processing. He is a member of the Brazilian Telecommunication Society (SBrT), and of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
